Creating Infrastructure for the Future
As we consider the long road to recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic, Democratic legislators like Representative Joyce Beatty know that we need sweeping, comprehensive legislation to bring our nation’s infrastructure up to speed.
Last week, Rep. Beatty proudly joined a majority of her House colleagues in passing the Moving Forward Act, H.R. 2.
Rep. Beatty voted YES on the Moving Forward Act because it makes critically needed investments in broadband, schools, clean energy, and healthcare. This will create millions of good paying jobs, many of which will be located right here in the Third Congressional District.
As a part of the Financial Services Committee, Rep. Beatty fought for a bold investment in affordable housing. Rep. Beatty helped direct over $100 billion to reduce housing inequality, create jobs, stimulate the economy, improve living conditions, and increase environmental sustainability and climate resilience. This is so important to the future of Ohio’s Third Congressional District.
In addition, this Act will:
- Rebuild our highways, bridges, transit, rail airports, ports, and harbors through nearly $500 billion in investments. With strong ‘Buy America’ provisions and labor protections, American jobs will be protected.
- Secure our children’s futures through safe school reopenings and a $130 billion investment in school infrastructure to rebuild schools.
- Upgrade hospitals and health care infrastructure with a $30 billion investment. Especially during this pandemic, community health centers need to be able to increase capacity and strengthen care.
In the absence of leadership from the Trump Administration, Democrats in Congress are passing bold legislation that will rebuild this country and create millions of good paying jobs.
